Illustration Friday: PLAIN

This topic made me think of a book I loved as a kid, Sarah, Plain and Tall. Sadly, I haven't read it in years, but I pieced together this illustration from my scattered memories. Happy Martin Luther King Day to you all!

  3. Oh!!! I was so hoping someone with REAL talent would think of Sarah Plain and Tall; I knew I don't have it in me to express that tale but I adore the book, that series of movies. This is fabulous! CLAP CLAP CLAP!!!

  13. This is beautiful - I love how you have captured the colours of the prairie and of the sea - the blue and grey and green that were missing when Sarah tried to draw the wind in the grass! What is this picture done in?

  14. Thanks for the comments, everyone! I'm glad there are some other Sarah fans out there. I just got the book out from the library to re-read, and discovered that it's now a series of 5 (yes, FIVE!) books. Whew!

Kathleen, most of the work on here, including this one, is done in pastels.
